Prior to working at Linden Lab, I did a consulting job with Vectorform for Linden Lab, who wanted to investigate ideas for better landmark management and sharing in Second Life. At the time, sharing landmarks was key to social interaction in SL, where users would transfer landmarks to one another to share them which was disorganized and error-prone. I did a massive audit of competing Viewers, web browsers, and related technology, researched landmarks and social interaction in SL with users, and prepared a large audit with several recommendations for improving landmarks and navigation in SL. In the second half of the project, the Vectoform team created a project viewer with a new navigation bar (much like a browser with back/forwards and home buttons and an address bar). Other new features I designed included teleport history, shared landmarks via an avatar's profile, and better landmark management.
